Description

The Endless Summer (Cinema 5, 1966). Day-Glo Silk Screen Poster (40" X 60").
The Realsurf website voted The Endless Summer as the greatest surf movie ever made. That's truly saying something when one realizes that there have literally been hundreds of films and documentaries made on the subject. Created in 1966 by the legendary documentarian Bruce Brown, the filmmaker's six prior documentaries were simply warm-ups for his ultimate picture. The story was simple enough, two California surfers search the world for the perfect wave, a search that takes them from Africa to New Zealand, Tahiti, and Hawaii among other exotic locales. But what really captivated audiences was the beauty of this ethereal sport, inspiring people to line up to see the film time and time again. It's no wonder that this amazing poster, designed by John Van Hamersveld, and rarely found in this 40" X 60" style, is in such high demand. It captures the era by using a day-glo motif; a format that was just beginning to be popularized by teenagers in the 1960s who discovered black lights and "turning on." Minor signs of handling include edge wear, stains in the left, right and top border, horizontal creases, and tears in the bottom and top border. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
