    Description

Babe Ruth Baseball Lot (Allied Artists, 1948). Lobby Cards (2) (11" X 14"), Letter (8.5" X 11") and Program (8.5" X 11"). Offered in this lot are four items pertaining to the great Babe Ruth and his appearance in films. When Ruth retired from baseball in 1935, he was already a legend and the public clamored for more. The first two items are from "The Babe Ruth Story," a portrait lobby and a program. The program is fantastic, giving Ruth's batting and pitching records as well as several pictures of Ruth, who served as a technical advisor, giving Bendix batting lessons. The next item is a lobby card from the 1949 reissue of "The Pride Of The Yankees," the inspiring baseball biopic of the great Lou Gehrig, in which the Babe appeared as himself. The fourth item is a letter from First National Pictures, Inc., and is written on "Babe Comes Home" stationary dated June 16, 1927, the same time as the films release. The "The Pride Of The Yankees" lobby card has pinholes in the corners, and the letter has two punch holes, otherwise the material is in great condition. Very Fine+.
