    Description

Soviet Propaganda Poster (The Red Proletariat, c.1930s). Rolled, Fine/Very Fine. Russian Poster (16.25" X 14") "Teach Your Child to Work." Foreign.
Offered in this lot is a Soviet poster from the 1930s which promotes the "right" and "wrong" ways to raise a child, according to the social standards at the time. In the top row, the images depict the mother assisting her children with every task, the text citing that "Around the child, there will always be disorder," and without being properly taught, the child will grow lazy and be able to do nothing. The bottom row of images show the children being self-sufficient, with the text stating that, when the child learns to work at an early age, they develop the necessary skills for later in their lives. An unrestored poster that displays signs of use. May include slight edge wear, creases, small tears, minute chips, unobtrusive stains, or faint toning. There is ink writing throughout the poster, translating the text to English. There are a few pieces of paper tape on the verso.
