    Description

    S.O.S. Iceberg (Universal, 1933). German Lobby Cards (2) (9.25" X 12") Leni Riefenstahl Photography.
Country of origin glossy finish German lobby cards from the German adaptation of this film, which was shot simultaneously in English (also starring Leni Riefenstahl, but with American co-star Rod La Rocque). It is the tale of the real-life Alfred Lothar Wegener polar expedition of 1929-30. Before becoming a director, Riefenstahl first starred in several mountain/adventure films directed by her idol, Arnold Fanck, from whom she learned cinematographic techniques. This film marks the last of the US/German film collaborations, as the Nazi party was taking over power in Germany. These cards are in excellent condition, with no visible flaws. There is a German embossed censorship stamp in the lower left corner of both. Very Fine+.

    Estimate: $500 - $1,000.
