Description

    Son of Frankenstein (Universal, 1939). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
This was the third of Universal's Frankenstein films, and the last worthwhile entry before the series dissolved into sequels without the Boris Karloff monster. At 51 years of age, Karloff was getting too old to deal with the eight hour makeup job by Jack Pierce. The previous two entries, Frankenstein (1931) and The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), were big hits. In this installment, Basil Rathbone portrays the son of the famed doctor, and Bela Lugosi is Ygor, the demented hunchback. This is the much anticipated Heritage debut of the style A one sheet, an incredibly elusive poster that features all three monster greats -- Karloff, Rathbone and Lugosi. The only large format paper we have presented from this film are two half sheets and a Swedish one sheet, making this poster an irresistible opportunity to acquire a special piece of monster film history! Vibrant color and minimal signs of handling add even higher appeal to this exceptional find. There are pinholes in the corners and a few that extend into the background, small crossfold separations, separation along the bottom horizontal fold at the left and right with museum tape on the verso only at the edge, a faint dust shadow in each corner, and the borders were at one time folded back. Folded, Very Fine-.
