DescriptionSilly Symphony (United Artists, 1933). Fine+ on Linen. French Stock Moyenne (23" X 31") Cecchetto Artwork.
A rare piece of paper from the early days of animation, this French poster has only made a couple of appearances here at Heritage. Designed by artist Cecchetto for the French market, this stock moyenne was designed so that theaters could reuse the poster multiple times with different titles placed in the blank title area. Accordingly, the poster features a whimsical stone litho design with several Silly Symphony characters, including the Three Little Pigs, Santa Claus, and King Neptune, among others. This is an extraordinary find for Disney aficionados, and it now looks great after touchup to the folds, pinholes, and minor tears. The edges of the top, bottom, and left side borders were slightly trimmed prior to restoration, and all of the poster's borders have been airbrushed to great visual effect.
Estimate: $4,000 - $8,000.
