The Phantom (Columbia, 1943). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Chapter 3 -- "A Traitor's Code."
Before Superman, and before Batman or any other super hero, was the crime-fighting legend, The Phantom. He first appeared in syndicated newspaper strips, created by Lee Falk and Ray Moore in 1936, and his immediate popularity would make him a natural character to appear in the action-adventure serials of the 1940s. Tom Tyler, who had previously appeared in serials as Captain Marvel, was given the role which he played with flair in all 15 death-defying chapters. This inset depicts the Phantom with his canine crime-fighting ally, Devil. Partially restored, this poster has had corrections to fold wear and separation, pinholes, small chips, and a few tears. The poster has some unaddressed stains, mild creases, and toning. The borders have been airbrushed.
