Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe (Universal, 1940). Stock One Sheet (27" X 41").
In one of the best posters ever created for any of the Flash Gordon serials, this spectacular one sheet was used for the entire serial vs the individual chapter sheets. These rare stock sheets were done in full color for the Universal serials, whereas the chapter sheets were always done in a duotone color. It features Buster Crabbe reprising his role as Alex Raymond's legendary spaceman and Carol Hughes taking on the character of Dale Arden for the first time. But would any Flash Gordon serial be complete without the evil Emperor Ming? Charles Middleton reprises his role for a third time in this exciting chapter play as he brings the Purple Death to Earth! The linen has been trimmed up to the edge of the poster. Prior to restoration, there were pinholes and tiny chips off of each corner. There was a slight bit of paper loss at the middle center point and in the top of the "V" of Universe. There has been a bit of airbrushing in the yellow of the title in these areas to correct for the tiny paper loss. There was also a slight tear in Dr. Zarkov's face in the lower portion of the poster and this required a bit of color touchup as well. Overall this is a really beautiful example of the poster for this amazing serial. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
