Description
The War of the Worlds (Paramount, 1953). One Sheet (27" X 41").Based on the classic novel by H. G. Wells, this is the story of an invasion of Earth by hostile Martians, an invasion against which all human technology is useless. Although Paramount secured the rights to Wells' novel in 1924, and had originally secured Cecil B. DeMille and later Alfred Hitchcock to direct, it took until the 1950s for production to begin. The result was a landmark science fiction film, made memorable by its incredible special effects (which garnered a well-deserved Oscar). It remains a classic of the genre, one of the best sci-fi films of any era. This colorful one sheet shows only a pinpoint crossfold separation, making it a great find for collectors.
