Description
The Time Machine (MGM, 1960). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. French Grande (47" X 63"). Roger Soubie Artwork. The Time Machine is a landmark science fiction film directed by George Pal and based on the 1895 novella by H.G. Wells. The story follows a Victorian inventor, known simply as George (played by Rod Taylor), who creates a machine that allows him to travel through time. Disillusioned by the violence and war of the 20th century, he ventures far into the future, ultimately arriving in the year 802,701, where humanity has evolved into two separate species: the peaceful, childlike Eloi and the savage, underground Morlocks. Produced on a budget of $800,000.00, the film reaped over $2 million dollars in domestic ticket sales, considered a modest return at the time. Backed to linen, touchup has addressed pinholes to the corners, splits to the edges and fold lines as well as chips at some crossfolds. There is some water staining to the left side of the linen with some into the lower corner of the poster. The poster displays well despite these issues.
