Description

The Empire Strikes Back (20th Century Fox, 1980). Rolled, Very Fine+. Composite Overlay International One Sheet Printer's Proof (27" X 40.75") Style A, Roger Kastel Artwork.
From one of the final steps in the poster production process comes this incredible printer's proof, a layered composite overlay for what is quite possibly the most famous poster from The Empire Strikes Back. Composed of four clear polyester sheets printed in the separate colors of black, cyan, magenta, and yellow, this proof allowed printers to check the image's trapping, layout, text, and to make sure there were no breaks in the color. As is usual for the proofing process, the layers have been attached to a white sheet of paper stock by strips of tape at the top. When properly aligned, the overlay displays the iconic Gone with the Wind poster design by Roger Kastel with colors accurate to that on the final poster. This piece was owned by 20th Century Fox publicity agent Daniel Saez, who marketed such top tier titles as Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The proof is stunning on display and in great condition, with only slight handling creases, unobtrusive smudges, and light surface scuffs. Undoubtedly, this unique item would be an absolute gem of an acquisition for any die-hard collector of sci-fi's greatest space saga.
