DescriptionThe Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. Insert (14" X 36").
Directed by Robert Wise, this thrilling science-fiction classic was a big-budget look at the possibility of man's first contact with aliens from another world and how we would react to this contact. Besides a thoughtful and exciting story-line, the film featured incredible special effects for the era, including a flying saucer and a menacing "policeman" from another world; one of the screens' most impressive robots, Gort. Starring Michael Rennie as the alien Klaatu, Patricia Neal as the sympathetic mom and Hugh Marlowe. The poster is folded and has minor extra creases and crimps just visible throughout. There are pinholes in the corners, a piece of tape in the upper left corner, and some slight bug nibbling on the lower left edge. There is also a long slight scratch in the image area just to the left of a screaming Patricia Neal.
Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
