    Description

The Day the Earth Stood Still (20th Century Fox, 1951). Fine+ on Linen. Six Sheet (79.5" X 80").
One of the biggest names among the sci-fi classics, this Robert Wise picture perfectly encapsulated the growing anxiety of American citizens as the world advanced into the Atomic Age. The themes of peace and destruction balance against one another throughout the film in the alien emissary Klaatu and his towering bodyguard Gort, eventually offering the audience the hope of a better, safer world. Already a desirable item for the title alone, Heritage has the exciting opportunity to present this incredibly rare six sheet. Professional corrections have been made to fold wear and separations, pinholes, tears, and chips in the borders and folds. There was some paper loss where the two panels meet on the left side, and the poster has a bit of mild post-restoration fold wear on the left side as well. The borders and title have been airbrushed and the linen has been trimmed nearly to the borders along the sides. The colors on this oversized poster are not as strong as the only other copy we have sold before, but it is still a very desirable poster to own.
