Star Wars - "Space and Sci-Fi Movie Book" Magazine (Town Mook, 1977). Very Fine/Near Mint. Japanese Magazine (138 Pages, 8.25" X 11.75") with Fold-Out Poster. Noriyoshi Ohrai Poster Artwork.
Offered here is a special issues of the Japanese Town Mook publication dedicated to science fiction movies. The hybrid magazine/book contains articles (in Japanese) with loads of accompanying pictures about science fiction movies from the western world dating back to the early 1900s. Titles include Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Planet of the Apes, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, War of the Worlds, and many more. Perhaps the biggest draw in this magazine though, is the fold-out poster tucked just inside the front cover. The double-sided poster, still attached to the magazine's spine, features an image of the moon base from 2001: A Space Odyssey on one side, and on the other side is a fantastic piece of Star Wars art from Noriyoshi Ohrai. Reportedly, George Lucas was so impressed with Ohrai's work that he commissioned the artist to provide art for the international posters for The Empire Strikes Back. Overall, the magazine is in wonderful condition with the interior pages showing only a few creases. The front cover shows wear on the spine with a minute separation, and the back cover shows just a few faint scuffs. In addition to the attached Star Wars poster is another attached fold-out poster featuring Close Encounters of the Third Kind and 2001: A Space Odyssey on opposite sides, and a loose fold-out poster featuring images from 2001: A Space Odyssey on either side.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
