    Description

Star Trek: The Next Generation, Ventax II by Syd Dutton (Paramount, 1991). Very Fine-. Original Screen-Used Matte Painting on Board (34" X 54") Episode 4x13 -- "Devil's Due."
Created by masterful matte painter Syd Dutton, this beautiful and unique illustration is making its first ever appearance at Heritage. Seen in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode 86, "The Devil's Due," this highly detailed painting has a common feature used in many matte backgrounds: a patch of painted black on the right side. This enabled special effects artists to splice in live-action footage with the stationary illustration. In this case, it was a scene of panicked pedestrians fleeing during an earthquake on an elevated walkway, with computer animated fires and smoke added into the background. The painting has such signs of use as small surface lifts, unobtrusive stains and smudges, as well as some scuffs and scratches. The paint is beginning to crack in a few places, but this is only a small area compared to the rest of the beautiful illustration. Due to the size/weight of this lot, shipping costs may be higher than usual.
