Description

Star Trek: The Next Generation, Romulus by Syd Dutton (Paramount, 1987). Very Fine+. Signed Original Screen-Used Matte Painting on Board in Wooden Frame (77" X 43") Episode 5x7 -- "Unification, Pt. 1."
Illustrated and signed by one of the immensely talented co-founders of the special effects company Illusion Arts, Syd Dutton, this first-time offer from Heritage can be found in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode, "Unification, Pt. 1." Specifically, the illustration depicts the Krocton Segment city district of Romulus, on which matte artist Syd Dutton has bestowed a stunning amount of detail and can be considered one of his greatest works for the beloved series. The golden lighting of the piece pairs very nicely with the stately architecture of the Romulan civilization, indicating the Roman inspiration of the race with buildings similar to ionic pillars, the massive central structure reminiscent of the Colosseum, and the occasional eagle monument dotting the background. Impressive to behold and in phenomenal condition, the painting's only wear consists of a few small cracks in the paint. There is a mark at the bottom of the piece where a painted foreground piece was once attached during filming. The wooden frame included with the painting has some surface scuffs and a label sticker in the lower right, but this dos not affect the grade. Due to the size/weight of this lot, shipping costs may be higher than usual.
