    Description

Star Trek: Deep Space 9, Teplan (Paramount, 1987). Very Fine-. Original Screen-Used Matte Painting on Board (54" X 35") Episode 4x23 --"The Quickening."
Never before offered at Heritage, this background matte painting from the renowned Illusion Arts studio depicts a view of the diseased planet Teplan from the 23rd episode of the fourth season of Star Trek: Deep Space 9, "The Quickening." Once prosperous but now in ruins due to a plague, Teplan shows remnants of its former stability through an industrial backdrop in many scenes, such as this skilled illustration. The large swathes of black painted onto the piece were used to combine the static image with filmed footage positioned into the foreground. Trekkies, sci-fi fans, and enthusiasts of behind-the-scenes movie magic should take advantage of this rare chance to own this excellent rendering, which has only a few signs of handling, such as small surface lifts, light smudges, and some thin scuffs and scratches. Most of these issues are either near the painting's periphery or in the black background, leaving the majority of the illustration intact. Due to the size/weight of this lot, shipping costs may be higher than usual.
