Description
Robot Monster (Astor Pictures, 1953). Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41.5") 3-D Style.Bursting with sensational imagery and bold taglines, this colorful one sheet for Robot Monster showcases the unforgettable gorilla-suit-and-diving-helmet villain Ro-Man in true 1950s sci-fi style. Though often cited as one of the "worst films ever made," Phil Tucker's $16,000 production has achieved cult status, blending hallucinatory set pieces, cheap special effects, and earnest ambition into a spectacle so bizarre it rivals Plan 9 from Outer Space. At once a product of B-movie marketing excess and a strangely captivating exercise in creative filmmaking, it remains a beloved curiosity celebrated by fans and even featured early on Mystery Science Theater 3000. On linen, airbrushing and touchup has addressed edge and fold wear, a few pinholes, creases, tears, a handful of stains, and ink stain bleedthrough primarily within the upper yellow background. Additionally, the linen has been somewhat amateurly trimmed to the borders, snipping the poster itself at parts.
