    Description

    Just Imagine (Fox, 1930). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Considered by many to be the very first science fiction film of the sound era - and certainly the very first science fiction musical - this picture stars El Brendel, a former vaudevillian and popular comedian. Brendel plays a gentleman struck by lightning, who awakens in the 1980s and is given the name Single O. This strange future world's inhabitants have government arranged marriages, pills instead of food, numbers instead of names, and vending machine babies. Single O befriends LN-18 (Maureen O'Sullivan) and J-21 (John Garrick) with whom he travels on an expedition to Mars, for even more strange sites and dancing girls. The fun special effects and sets were designed by Stephen Goosson and Ralph Hammeras and the futuristic electrical machinery, by Kenneth Strickfaden, who would later re-use this equipment for the laboratory set of Universal's 1931 masterpiece Frankenstein. This great card has been professionally restored to address a crease at the top and one in the lower left, a chip in the top left corner, and one at the bottom edge, and a tear at the top. This great card sets the stars among Strickfaden's fun sci-fi equipment and is a rare find. Fine.
