Journey to the Center of the Earth (20th Century Fox, 1959). Very Fine on Linen. Six Sheet (77" X 80").
Only a second time offering at Heritage of this fabulous poster. One of the early films produced by Irwin Allen, it helped to solidify his reputation as a master of adventure and fantasy films. The movie was notable for its special effects, overseen by George Pal's team, which brought the prehistoric creatures and underground landscapes vividly to life. The movie won an Academy Award for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration. Backed to linen, this fantastical poster has had light touch-up to the fold lines to address wear and minute chips, and there were a few small chips around the edges. There is a Dutch censor stamp at upper right. These issues were handled very well and poster presents wonderfully.
