Description
Forbidden Planet (MGM,1956). One Sheet (27" X 41").This is the film that introduced movie audiences to Robby the Robot, arguably the most famous automaton ever to appear on the silver screen. Also featured are wonderful performances by Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen, and state-of-the-art special effects. The now classic sci-fi gem is based loosely on the Shakespeare play The Tempest. Taking place in the early 2200s, audiences follow the crew of a United Planets cruiser, who find Dr. Morbius, his daughter Altaira, and Robby the Robot living on what they thought was a deserted planet. Robby dominates this avidly collected one sheet, with the beautiful Anne Francis dangling from his arms against a mysterious, other worldly background. Restoration has addressed pinholes in the corners with a few in the background and the borders, and there has been airbrush work to the white field in the lower credits. Very Fine- on Linen.
