Forbidden Planet (MGM, 1956). One Sheet (27" X 41").
It is perhaps the most iconic image of the entire 1950s science fiction genre. Robby the Robot was first introduced to audiences by this poster as they walked into theatres across America and it captured their imaginations like no other. The poster is also iconic in that it features the "damsel in distress" (in this case a very sexy Anne Francis) being carried in the arms of the monster - however, we have to add that Robby was never considered a monster but was actually a hero to the inhabitants of Altair 4. But audiences walking into the theatre didn't discover this until the end of the film. Simply stated, if you must own one poster from the 1950s sci-fi genre, this is it! The poster had a couple of staple marks in each corner and also several sets of staple marks within the image. There was a slight fold separation at the center point and all of these very minor issues have been addressed with professional restoration. Very Fine on Linen.
