    Description

Creature from the Black Lagoon (Universal International, 1954). Folded, Fine+. Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style A, Reynold Brown Artwork.
With the release of Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein in 1948, the Golden Age of Universal Horror was officially over, largely overshadowed by the very real horrors of World War II, as well as the emerging genre of science fiction. However, in 1954, Universal entered their second age of horror with the release of this landmark film. Based on seventeenth-century drawings of the sea monk and the sea bishop, as well as the Academy's Oscar statuette, the Gill-Man quickly became as well-known as Dracula or Frankenstein's Monster and appeared in two sequels, earning a solid place in horror film history. The poster shows edge and fold wear, creasing, a few unobtrusive stains and smudges, as well as a couple of very minor chips. There are small tears, in addition to a tear in the upper right corner with minor touchup applied that extends into the monster's hand and is braced with archival tape on the verso. This poster will make an excellent addition to any creature feature collection.
