Description

Barbarella (Paramount, 1968). Very Fine- on Linen. Italian 4 - Fogli (54.25" X 76.25") Mario De Berardinis Artwork.
Sold only once previously in our history, Heritage is proud to present this large-format, alternate style Italian 4 - Fogli for the retro treasure, Barbarella. Taking audiences on a psychedelic journey through space, the film stars director Roger Vadim's then-wife, Jane Fonda, as the titular heroine, and follows her mission to track down the corrupt scientist Durand Durand (Milo O'Shea), who has fallen under the influence of the sinister Matmos. Set in the year 40,000, the film blends campy humor, surreal visuals, and sensuality, embodying the free-spirited aesthetic of the 1960s. Along the way, Barbarella encounters eccentric characters such as the blind, winged Pygar (John Phillip Law) and the seductive Great Tyrant (Anita Pallenberg), navigating a world filled with bizarre dangers and erotic escapades. Barbarella has since achieved cult status, leaving a lasting impact on pop culture and cementing its place as a distinctive and stylish landmark in sci-fi cinema. Adding to the film's mystique is this exceedingly scarce Italian poster, which has had light touchup applied primarily along the folds to address fold wear, pinholes, creases, minor fold/crossfold separation, misfolds, and mostly small tears. Some flaws, including smudges, remain visible.
