Description
Alien (20th Century Fox, 1979). Marler Haley British Quads (2) & Double Crowns (4) (30" X 40").For the ultimate collector on Ridley Scott's Alien, Heritage is proud to offer possibly the rarest posters ever issued on this landmark science fiction film. In advance of the film's release, the studio contacted Marler Haley in England to produce a unique display. Marler Haley were known for their promotional materials ranging from banners to full size standees, and so for Alien they created this set of six posters (two quads and four double crowns), to be used separately or all together into one larger display poster. The two quads were printed with a day-glo green to attract the patrons eyes, while the smaller double crowns consisted of ten scenes telling a little of the film.s plot. Featured in the scenes are Harry Dean Stanton, Ian Holm, John Hurt, Veronica Cartwright, Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver and Yaphet Kotto, and another scene features the Alien "space jockey" designed by Swiss surrealist H.R. Giger. What isn't shown is the real "star" of the film; the Alien creature itself. The studio didn't want the creature designed by Giger shown on any of the film's original advertising material and spoil the shock of seeing it in the movie. The double crowns also used the film's tag line "In space, no one can hear you scream." To say that the Marler Haley display is rare is an understatement. It's very hard to find even single posters, but to find the entire set at one time is virtually unheard of. These rolled posters have some wrinkles and crimps within them along with some edge wear. There is a tear in the top of the "cast" double crown and in the one featuring Yaphet Kotto, the upper right corner has been torn off. Other than this, the set is in very nice presentable condition. Rolled, Very Fine-.
