    Description

    Alien (20th Century Fox, 1978). Fine/Very Fine. Pre-Production Book (Multiple Pages, 11" X 15").
Created while the film was in production in 1978, this is a very rare photographic brochure hand-bound with 20 photographic prints in color and black and white. The stills were shot by Bob Penn, the film's still photographer, and compiled by SB International Press Services in London. Given to the executives of 20th Century Fox and possibly some important press contacts, the book is spiral bound and made as such to allow additional photos to be inserted as shooting progressed and says just that in the text. Two of the shots are special effects shots and 17 are photos taken on the set and one is an artwork page with title, cast, and premise of the film. Several of the photos which were printed in color are done on Kodak paper stock and the black and white are not. This is an amazing piece of film history produced well before any initial buzz about this ground-breaking science fiction film was ever generated in the press. Undoubtedly one of the most scarce of Alien collectibles, this pre-production book displays light edge wear, small creases, minor tears, and light surface wear. A few of the pages have dust shadows at the top, and the plastic spine has cracks and some missing material. Fine/Very Fine.
