DescriptionSaraband for Dead Lovers (Ealing, 1948). British Quad (30" X 40") Robert Medley Artwork.
This sumptuous movie, about an affair between Sophie Dorothea, wife of Prince George Louis of Hanover, and the dashing Swedish adventurer Count Konigsmark (Stewart Granger), was the first Technicolor film released by Britain's Ealing Studios. The colorful poster offered here - pictured in Gregory J. Edwards's 1985 book, The International Film Poster - boasts art by Robert Medley. Although backed on linen, this country of origin quad has received no touchup and shows edge wear with small tears and a few nicks. There are a couple of minor splices in the borders, creasing and rippling into the interior, and some post-backing foxing at the top. The poster is beginning to separate from the masa paper at the edges, and the masa paper is separating from the linen at the bottom. Fine+ on Linen.
Estimate: $600 - $1,200.
