Description

Santa Fe Grand Canyon Travel Poster (Santa Fe Railroad, Circa 1949). Poster (18" X 24").
Artist Oscar M. Bryn (b.1883) began his career in the art department of the San Francisco Chronicle in 1902. He spent several years contributing illustrations to Sunset magazine, and in 1913 moved to Los Angeles as a poster designer for the Santa Fe Railway. Although named after the capitol of New Mexico, the rail line never reached the state, as the terrain prohibited the construction of tracks. The line did, however, reach the Grand Canyon in Arizona, and as this poster states was "the only railroad entering this National Park." Bryn captures a sweeping vista of the sun-drenched Canyon, as a Native American couple gazes at its splendor. Whether you have a love affair with rail travel or American Western landscapes, this poster is calling your name. Only light wrinkling and two small tears in the right border can be noted. Rolled, Very Fine-.
