Sadie McKee (MGM, 1934). Half Sheet (22" X 28"). From the collection of William E. Rea.
Joan Crawford plays a young innocent lured to the Big Apple by a shifty vaudevillian (Gene Raymond), who them promptly dumps her for an actress (Esther Ralston). Adrift in New York, she takes a job at a nightclub, and accepts the marriage proposal of a drunken millionaire, and then must suffer abuse from his family, who considers her a golddigger. This frantic melodrama is a great showcase for the beautiful young Crawford, who's seen in three sensational images on this very rare half sheet. A Heritage first. Touchup was applied to pinholes in the borders and background, a vertical crease along the right background near the border, and a vertical tear in the right border. From the collection of William E. Rea. Very Fine- on Paper.
