Description

The Divorcee (MGM, 1930). Rotogravure One Sheet (27" X 41").
MGM star Norma Shearer was tired of the "society lady" or "good girl" roles she was getting. She decided she wanted to break out of that image, and boy, did she ever with this powerful performance, earning her a Best Actress Academy Award. As Jerry Martin, Shearer is blissfully married to Chester Morris, but on their anniversary she realizes he has cheated on her. Bristling at the double-standard for men and women of the era, she embarks on a revenge affair, leading to a spiral of divorce, empty romances, and heartbreak. Prior to restoration, the poster had some fold and crossfold separation, a small chip in the left border, and chips with small tears in the right border. Touchup work has been done and the poster now displays magnificently! Rotogravure one sheets were produced by MGM in addition to a stone litho style for their "A" releases for several years from the mid-twenties up to the early 1930s. And when they produced a beautiful one such as this, they are stunning! Very Fine- on Linen.
