This touching drama centers around an unlikely pair of lovers, Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell, who find their bit of Heaven in a poor garret far above the gritty city of Paris. Gaynor's performance is riveting to watch and led to the first Academy Award for Best Actress to be given to her for her work in this film and two others (Street Angel and Sunrise) before the Academy changed the rules to base the award on a single film. The onscreen chemistry and rapport between Gaynor and Farrell led the studios to cast them in twelve films altogether. Cards from this early silent classic are rare and highly prized and these three are in excellent condition. The portrait card has corner pinholes, and two corner creases. One card has a staple hole in the top of the background, and two cards have pieces of cellophane tape on the reverse. Very Fine-.
