    Description

    The Swallows Doo-Wop / R & B Band (Richmond, Va., 1953). Concert Performance Poster (22" X 28.5"). Rock and Roll.
If you've waited for an original poster from the early days of classic Doo-Wop, this is for you! It's an original 19 June 1953 appearance poster for one of the earliest doo-wop groups, The Swallows. They were Baltimore, Maryland based, and moved from the traditional singing on street corners to recording what many regard as one of the first major doo-wop hits, "Will You Be Mine" in 1951. They had another top ten Billboard hit, the following year, with the release of "Beside You" which is featured on this poster. An unrestored poster with good color and an overall very presentable appearance. It may have edge wear with small tears, slight paper loss in the bottom, pinholes, stains, and minor corner bumps. There is an original silk-screened "Dance Orchestra" snipe attached to the bottom border with tape on the verso. Don't overlook this very scarce piece of musical history. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Fine+.
