    Description

James Brown: Sex, Power, and Love at the Cobo Arena, Detroit (Polydor Records, 1971). Fine+. Silk Screen Concert Poster (22" X 35").
A beautiful oversized cardboard concert poster printed by Globe Posters advertising James Brown's November 25, 1971 concert at the Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Featuring a fluorescent portrait of Brown, great text-'Sex Power and Love" and "The Sex Machine," and song titles including "Make It Funky," "Black and Proud," "Super Bad," "Soul Power" "Sex Machine," and "Hot Pants." Also featured on the bill were the Dramatics, Bobby Byrd, the Stylistics and Lyn Collins. This program capture the Godfather of Soul at his prime, taking place eight months after his legendary Paris Olympia show documented on the album Love, Power, Peace: Live at the Olympia, Paris 1971. Signs of handling include mild edge wear, pinholes, a few scratches, and a tear in the lower credits. Also apparent is some staining with slight surface rippling in the right of the poster, a small bit of paper remnants in Lynn Collins' credit, as well as a minor chip in the lower right. A couple of the scratches are in James Brown's image and have surface indentations.
