    Description

Rita Hayworth by Bob Landry (Life Magazine, 1941). Fine/Very Fine. Pinup Photo (11" X 14").
1941 was quite a year for Life Magazine photographer Bob Landry. Not only did his stunning images of the attack on Pearl Harbor garner him recognition, but he cemented the "love goddess" image of Rita Hayworth with his photograph of the bombshell kneeling on her own satin covered bed. Clad only in her silk and lace nightie, the image caused such a sensation it became (at over five million copies) one of the most requested wartime pin-ups. Hayworth would also become Columbia's biggest star of the 1940s. This vintage silver gelatin, double weight, glossy finish photo shows signs of light handling, including pinholes in the corners, a spot and small tear in the right border, corner bends, a streak near the top, a nick in the right border, and edge wear. It also displays the faint beginnings of surface checking in the lower right and has a studio snipe on the verso. Very rare and very famous, this is the very first printing of this iconic shot that should be on every collector's "must have" list.
