Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey (Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Combined Shows, 1945). Folded, Very Fine. Linen Circus Banner (232.5" X 80") Bill Bailey Artwork.
Illustrated by Bill Bailey, the equally ferocious lion and tiger seem to almost be leaping off of this impressive banner for the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey circus. Still remembered today as "The Greatest Show on Earth," once these shows combined there was no question to the truth of that statement. Although the clowns, trapeze and acrobatic shows, and other performances drew in large audiences, many visitors came to see the acts that included animals. Making its debut appearance for auction at Heritage, this linen banner displays sigs of usage including slight fraying at the edges, creases, and mostly unobtrusive stains. Also present is faint image ghosting and mild ink stamp bleedthrough. This banner comes in two panels, comprised of sheets of linen sewn together.

    Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
