    Description

Return of the Jedi by Mark J. Mancini (20th Century Fox, 1983). Signed Oil on Canvas Promotional Artwork (50" X 36").
In 1982 Chein Industries in Burlington, New Jersey did a licensing agreement with Lucasfilm Ltd. to produce tinware; wastebaskets, trays, cookie tins, etc. Painted and signed by Mark J. Mancini, this dramatic oil on canvas illustration was featured on the Return of the Jedi merchandise from Cheinco Housewares products and sold nationally at chain stores such as K-Mart. The painting had to be designed as a stand-alone composition for the best selling item, the waste basket and yet still be modular so that individual elements could be lifted and reworked in montages to accommodate the various shapes of the other items in the line. The TIE Fighter and Speeder Bike at the bottom were late additions added at the request of Lucasfilm, to be integrated into various pieces of tinware. No doubt many a child's room was graced with the wonderful products this painting was used upon. The artwork comes with a letter of authenticity signed by the artist. Oil on stretched canvas. Very Fine+.
