    Description

Red Heels (Union Artistic Films, 1925). French Double Grande (93.5" X 63) E. Florit Artwork.
This Austrian silent film, helmed by Michael Curtiz, stars French actress Lili Damita in her very first leading role. She is a Parisian stage dancer who marries a young British Bohemian, played by Eric Barclay, but their newlywed bliss lasts only a short while. Their union is a stormy one, as the couple clashes over whether the dancer should continue her career, or retire to a quiet country cabin with her new husband. Upon seeing this film, Samuel Goldwyn invited Damita to Hollywood, where she went on to star in many more films (and married Errol Flynn!). Artist E. Florit delivers an astounding amount of detail and color in this riotous party scene, presented in lovely stone litho printing for the first time at Heritage. Although backed on linen, this massive double grande has not received any touchup. Unaddressed wear includes minor crossfold separations, light edge wear, and creases. The poster has some warping and a couple of stains at the bottom edge, but this does even come close to approaching the image area. Very Fine- on Linen.
