    Description

    Rebel without a Cause (Warner Brothers, 1955). Six Sheet (79.5" X 80.75").
James Dean, who had struck a major chord with teens all across America when East of Eden was released, was set to assume the mantle and crown worn by Marlon Brando as the new Rebel Without a Cause--when this seminal film was made. Directed by Nicholas Ray, in this film Dean embodied the disenfranchised youth that every other teen in the country could identify with. And then tragedy struck. Just a month before the film hit theatres, James Dean died in an auto accident. The man who gave a new meaning to "live fast, die young" became a silver screen immortal and the legend just continues to grow to this day. This poster for Rebel Without a Cause captures the youth, his back turned on society, in a larger than life pose. If there's one poster to own of Dean, this is surely it. The poster had pinholes in the corners and has had some light color touch to the fold lines. There was a small bit of paper loss on the fold lines on the left side of the poster in the blue background that has been evened out with airbrush, but other than these minor issues, this remains one of the quintessential posters of the 1950s. Very Fine- on Linen.
