    Description

Ravished Armenia (First National, 1919). Very Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") AKA: Auction of Souls.
Never before offered at Heritage, this one sheet is an exceptionally rare remnant of a partially lost biographical picture. So rare, in fact, that we have never offered any other poster for the film. It comes from a harrowing cinematic recreation of the Armenian genocide, as told from the perspective of Arshaluys "Aurora" Mardiganian in her autobiographical book, also called Ravished Armenia. Mardiganian starred in the film, and the studio used thousands of Armenians living in Southern California as extras. Never folded before linenbacking, this emotional stone litho poster has had light professional touchup to minor tears at the edges and a thin dust shadow at the top, but otherwise has needed no other restoration. The interior is clean of defects and the colors are still exceptional over one hundred years after printing.
