Description

Randy Rides Alone (Monogram, 1934). Three Sheet (40" X 77.5").
Fans of John Wayne will be hard pressed to find a poster with equally exceptional images of the cowboy hero. At the top, Wayne is shown in chiseled profile, holding Alberta Vaughn, and at the bottom he battles the baddies astride his trusty horse. This early B-Western boasts one of the most memorable opening scenes: Randy Bowers (John Wayne) rides into town, walks into a saloon...and finds it full of dead bodies! The bad guys in this film include George "Gabby" Hayes and stunt man Yakima Canutt. It's challenging to find larger paper on these early Wayne B Westerns, making this three sheet a true prize. Careful restoration has the poster looking remarkably fresh, with touchup/airbrushing to tears in the title and horse, folds and cross folds with small chips, a tear and chip in the left background, and chips in the borders and in the "W" and "N" of Wayne. Rich stone litho color also enhances the overall appeal of this three sheet. Fine on Linen.

    Learn about consigning with us

What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
