    Description

Pinocchio (RKO, 1940). Very Good on Linen. Poster (40" X 60") Style A.
Walt Disney and RKO had an immense success with their first animated feature-length film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and quickly wanted to follow that up with another film based on a children's classic tale, Pinocchio: Tale of a Puppet by Carlo Collodi. Critics praised nearly every aspect of the Academy Award winning picture, from its beautiful animation, excellent characters, to its Oscar worthy musical score. To tie it all together, the film also enjoyed incredible voice acting by Dick Jones as Pinocchio, Cliff Edwards' Jiminy Cricket, Christian Rub as Geppetto, and Evelyn Venable playing the Blue Fairy. The Disney archives has reportedly verified this poster as being either the same one used or similar to that made for the premiere. It was folded prior to linen backing and was professionally restored to address edge and fold wear, fold separations, and creases. There were some tears in the interior, as well as chipping in the folds and edges. The upper left and right borders both had paper loss extending into the upper horizontal fold, as well as into the images of Geppetto and Honest John. With these skillful corrections, the poster now presents beautifully, looking nearly as good as the day it was printed. Very Good on Linen.
