    Description

Ramon Novarro (MGM, 1920s). Argentinean Personality Poster (21.5" X 29").
Mexican-American actor Ramon Novarro began his career taking on bit parts in 1917, while working as a singing waiter. That would change in 1923 when the handsome young man found success with his role in Scaramouche, and a gain with the 1925 epic, Ben-Hur. His star would continue to rise, as Novarro found himself opposite actresses such as Greta Garbo, Myrna Loy, and Lupe Velez. Despite his bright career, Novarro's personal life was quite dark. He faced a life-long struggle with alcoholism, as well as conflicts between his faith and his homosexuality. In late October of 1968, the 69 year old actor was murdered during what many believe was a failed robbery. This attractive Argentinean poster features a glowing image of Novarro in his early days as an actor. A Heritage first. There is some offset, light edge toning, some staining in the right side of the horizontal fold and the lower vertical fold, and faint bleedthrough from writing on the verso. Despite these minor imperfections this poster still displays beautifully. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
