Offered in this lot is a vintage silver gelatin, single-weight, glossy finish photo of a police dog attacking Walter Gadsden, at the time a 17-year-old high school student, at a civil rights demonstration on May 3, 1963. The full version of this photo was featured on the front page of the New York Times the day after this attack. An unrestored photo that displays signs of use. It may include light edge wear, slight curling, mild creases, and ink markings on the image of the attacking dog.
