Description

Peeping Tom (Anglo Amalgamated, 1960). British Quad (30" X 40").
Mark Lewis (Carl Boehm) isn't just a serial killer, he's a serial killer with a camera, and his obsession is recording on film the dying expressions of his unfortunate victims. Michael Powell's film about violence and voyeurism still remains extremely controversial, with some claiming it to be sick and perverse while others call it a masterpiece. Powell and writing partner Emeric Pressburger were responsible for several innovative and successful British films of the 1940s and 1950s (49th Parallel, Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes). The British press had long been hostile to Powell's unorthodox films, and when Peeping Tom was released, critics were vehement in their disdain. This disturbing film essentially ended his career, but in later years it has been acclaimed as a classic. Martin Scorsese considers this film and Fellini's to "contain all that can be said about directing." This British quad has fold wear, creases in the corners, and a few mild scratches. Folded, Very Fine-.
