Description

The Yellow Ticket (Fox, 1931). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (28.5" X 41").
Raoul Walsh directs The Yellow Ticket, a serious drama set in Czarist Russia starring Elissa Landi as a desperate young woman whose only means of passage to St. Petersburg is a "yellow ticket," a document identifying her as a prostitute. Her journey draws her into conflict with a corrupt baron portrayed by Lionel Barrymore, while Laurence Olivier appears in one of his earliest American screen roles as an idealistic journalist who becomes involved in her plight; Boris Karloff can also be spotted in a minor role. Represented here by a beautifully composed one sheet featuring refined Art Deco-inspired imagery and elegant early sound-era design, this rare poster marks a first-time offering from Heritage Auctions. Somewhat noticeable airbrushing and light touchup has addressed edge and fold wear, pinholes with chips and tears, creases, slight fold and crossfold separation, tears of varying lengths, and a couple of slight chips. Additionally, all chips have been further addressed by replacement.
