    Description

Stock Circus Poster (Erie Litho Company, 1920s). Folded, Very Fine-. Two Indian Elephants Stock Circus Three Sheet (41" X 70").
Two Indian elephants perform with a dog and a girl atop them in this vintage 1920s circus poster. Offered here is an extraordinarily beautiful circus poster circa 1920s printed by the Erie Litho Company in Pennsylvania. This firm, founded in 1890, originally printed for small traveling shows. Because they offered primarily stock designs, the cost of Erie's lithographs were often less than some of the larger printing firms. This stock oversized poster was done as a huge display piece to be pasted on walls or fences for traveling circus performances. The upper part of the poster left a space for the show to use their own printed snipe with which to create what appeared to be a beautiful poster for their own venue! Showcasing stone litho printing, this Heritage first has light edge and fold wear, slight fold separations, a couple of small chips and tears, and unobtrusive stains and smudges. The poster has some ink transfer in the top left background and some toing in the borders and folds.

    Estimate: $500 - $1,000.
