DescriptionStock Circus Poster (Donaldson Litho Co., 1920s). Folded, Fine+. Flying Trapeze Stock Nine Sheet (118.25" X 80").
Offered here is an extraordinarily beautiful circus poster featuring circus trapeze performers circa 1920s printed by the Donaldson Litho Company in Newport, Kentucky. This firm, founded in 1883, specialized in printing large advertising posters. It was known for its generic posters that buyers could customize themselves by adding names and dates to save money. This stock oversized poster was done as a huge display piece to be pasted on walls or fences for traveling circus performances. Offered at Heritage for the first time, this lovely stone litho poster shows such indications of use as edge and fold wear, fold separations, tears, and small chips. The poster also has a few unobtrusive stains and smudges, slight edge and fold toning, mild surface rippling, and some of the folds have been braced with pieces of archival tape on the verso. The poster's four panels have been attached into sets of two with each of the smaller panels attached to one of the larger ones, done with adhesive on the verso.
Estimate: $500 - $1,000.
