DescriptionBritish Conservative Party (The National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations, 1931). Very Fine- on Linen. British Campaign Poster (19.5" X 29.5") "Defenceless Childhood - Needs Safeguarding," G. Harrington Artwork.
Rarely seen in European politics, the UK general election of 1931 marked a landslide victory for the Conservative party, and was the last time a single party gained an absolute majority in Parliament. Though one might think that this poster promoted greater military spending, it most likely pertained to the divisive protectionist trade policies the Conservatives touted as being the solution to the country's rising unemployment. Making its first appearance at Heritage, this stone litho poster has had touchup applied to slight edge wear, mild creases, pinholes, minor tears, and a small lower left corner chip. Some of these issues are still visible. Very Fine- on Linen.
Estimate: $400 - $800.
