Offered in this lot are posters from a series entitled The Hope of a Nation-- A weekly promotional series part of the Works Progress Administration that was passed out to schools during the Great Depression. Used in classrooms, the bright and fun designs were meant to entertain and catch attention of the students to help promote good habits and character traits in students. These posters are the "Home Influence" and "Play" posters, both distributed in June, 1937 as numbers 37 and 39 in the series, to emphasize to children that good behaviors at home make a happy household, and playing with the whole family is beneficial and fun for all. Unrestored posters with bright color and clean overall appearances. They may have general signs of use, such as slight edge wear, light creases, minor surface scuffs, or faint staining.
