    Description

Out of the Past (RKO, 1947). One Sheet (27" X 41").
Considered to be a defining classic in film noir, Jacques Tourneur's dark and twisting plot, heavily shadowed scenes, and Robert Mitchum's perfectly hard-boiled private eye have made this thrilling crime drama an enduring icon of its genre. Black-and-white cinematographer Nicholas Musuraca masterfully creates a persistent atmosphere of tension and terror, highlighting the inherent danger in the film's source material, Daniel Mainwaring's Build my Gallows High. To top it all off, Mitchum gives the defining performance of his career, and Jane Greer portrays a flawless mix of erotic and lethal as the double crossing femme fatale. Simply stated, this is one of the best and most sought after posters of the film noir genre. Already a rare find among collectors, this particular one sheet boasts one of the brightest, most vibrant images we've ever seen and looks spectacular on display. Skilled professional restoration has addressed pinholes in the corners, staple holes in Mitchum's hat band, an enlarged pinhole in the upper right corner, a 1" tear with surface paper loss from the right border slightly into Mitchum's hair, minor surface paper loss in the bottom and right borders, and touchup to the folds. There are two small chips in the left border, a minor chip in the upper left corner, and a small hole in the "H" of "The." Very Fine- on Linen.
